#NoComplaintsSundays – this is my new thing. It has nothing to do with real estate, or Lake Wallenpaupack in
particular, so please bear with me.
We all have things that bother us, and sometimes we need to complain and get it out of our systems. Sometimes. We need to speak out about injustices and social/political issues that upset us and we may believe they threaten to harm our quality of life. Yes…it’s necessary. But often we make it our habit to just complain…complain, complain, complain.
We lose focus on the good that is also around us. Whether it’s about the weather, a real estate transaction, a bad experience at a restaurant or retailer, something with our family or kids…we complain….and not only does it drag us down deeper in a state of sadness, but it also drags down those around us who are listening to our whining.
It is especially evident, almost to epidemic proportions, on social media. So I am resolving that no matter what is bugging me, I refuse to complain on Sunday. Even if I have to go show homes on Sundays in the rain (this happens frequently, ha ha…the cost of doing business in a vacation / resort area in Northeast PA! )
For many, Sunday is traditionally a day set aside to worship our Creator, and has been considered a “Sabbath” since forever… (although if we want to be technical, the true Sabbath from a Judeo-Christian POV is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday but I’m not gonna haggle over that.)
I’m promising myself to take a Sabbath from complaining on Sundays and will be thankful for all the good things that have come my way thus far. Good things are there. You may need to look for them – but they’re there. May you all have a beautiful Sunday filled with good things.
