Friday Five, A Day Late!

I was totally not on the ball yesterday and didn’t get my Friday Five published.  So even though it’s Saturday, I’m going ahead with it now!

This week instead of focusing on houses for sale or some other real estate issue, I thought I’d mention FIVE PLACES TO EAT here in Pike and Wayne County.  Rumor has it there is a new Mexican restaurant open at the former Beans Cafe @ 1139 Main St. in Honesdale but I can not find any info about it. I heard about it on a friend’s Facebook status, but that’s it.  Anyone with any info on it, please let me know!

EDIT: UPDATE – The new Mexican restaurant is named Fiesta and I have heard nothing but RAVE reviews.

ON TO MY FRIDAY FIVE: GREAT PLACES TO EAT IN PIKE AND WAYNE COUNTY:

1.  Napolitano’s Italian Restaurant, Route 507 Newfoundland, PAPhone:  570-676-4744. Everyone who has talked to me about dining out knows I absolutely ADORE Napolitano’s.  It is the only restaurant for which I havecreated a virtual tour.

It is small, and popular, so call ahead to make sure you can get a table.  The decor is quaint, but the aroma when you walk in the door will make you feel like you’ve died and gone to heaven.  They create the best pizza I have ever had in my life, and the rest of their menu is awesome too.

My mouth is watering just thinking of it.

2. Branko’s Patisserie du Jour, 501 Main Street, Honesdale PA. Phone: 570-253-0311.  Website: http://www.brankos-patisserie.com My husband discovered this little spot of heaven in Honesdale one day, and knew I would love it.  He was right!  I was instantly enchanted with the European decor inside, and all of the fantastic goodies & pastries on display made it difficult for me to decide what to order!

The food was exquisite – I ordered Chicken Francaise – a delectable grilled chicken sandwich on gourmet quality home baked bread, with vidalia onions, other grilled veggies, and a hint of white wine.  This gourmet delight was under $6. Gourmet quality food, excellent prices.  Definitely will be going there again!

3. Fluff’s Deli – 401 Main, Hawley PA. Phone: 570-226-8801. If you’re hungry, and want good food fast and bottomless coffee, Fluff’s is the place.  With a slogan like “Fill Your Belly at Fluff’s Deli” how could you go wrong?  It’s nice to go to a place where you are known; where all you have to say is “The regular” and your food comes piping hot a few minutes later.   That’s usually my husband’s line…”Could I have the regular?”  When I call ahead to order a breakfast sandwich, Fluff always knows what I want. Sometimes she says “Hi Karen, getting your sandwich? Give me ten minutes.”   Sometimes when I go in to sit down, though, it’s French toast, sometimes it’s an egg sandwich; sometimes it’s a gigantic Reuben.  No wimpy portions either – this is serious food for serious hunger.

I love breakfast at Fluff’s, I love lunch at Fluff’s.  I just love Fluff’s!

4. Ehrhardt’s Waterfront on Lake Wallenpaupack – 205 Route 507, Hawley PA 18428 – Phone: 800-678-5907.  Website: http://www.ehrhardts.com I not only go to Ehrhardt’s with friends for lunch and real estate functions, but I always recommend it to my clients as well!  Ehrhardt’s has a nice variety of American fare and a lovely dining room overlooking Lake Wallenpaupack.  Their prices are reasonable, the service is exemplary, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.   One of my favorite offerings from the lunch menu is their awesome portabello sandwich!

Ehrhardt’s offers Dock And Dine for boaters on Lake Wallenpaupack.  Great place for a hearty lunch or delicious full course dinner.

5. Cocoon Coffeehouse, Route 6 & Bellemonte Avenue, Hawley PA. Phone: 570-226-6130.  Website: http://www.cocooncoffeehouse.com Clearly this is one of  the most unique places to hang out in the Hawley – Lake Wallenpaupack area. Come for gourmet coffee, cappuccinos, and lattes…and delicious panini sandwiches, quiches, salads, soups, and treats.  Inside the atmosphere is as you’d expect a trendy coffee house to be.   Sometimes there is live music!  The cool little building is made out of PA bluestone and sits next to the historic Hawley Silk Mill (the largest building in the world made entirely out of bluestone).

Some folks may remember the Silk Mill when it was Sherman’s Underwear Factory, and then for years it was Castle Antinques and Reproductions.  Anyway, back to The Cocoon: once upon a time, when the silk mill was in operation, this little building  housed the cocoons for the silk production. So there you have it.

Hope you enjoyed my Friday Five, a day late but not a dollar short!
