I think it’s great that the Lindes of Leeward Construction are donating time, labor, and materials to address the much needed repairs of the Honesdale Pool. In this day and age where many curmudgeon adults complain about kids sitting around playing computer games, it is nice to see some business people step forward and give back to the community that has given them a wholesome place to live and raise their families over the years.
I grew up in the country, and my parents always made sure I had a pool to swim in. When I was little, it was just a 12 ft diameter thing, but to me it was the ocean. I didn’t have many kids my age that lived near me, and I remember spending much of my days in the pool, playing all sorts of pretend games all by myself…something about splashing around in the water makes any day, even one without friends, fun. Even better were the days that I had a friend over to play with. We had all sorts of awesome adventures!
Kids in town aren’t often afforded the luxury of having a pool in their yard. Having a pool just outside of town to go to with friends is a wonderful part of childhood. I am so happy that Leeward Construction and several other businesses have donated time and money to this wonderful project for the children of Honesdale.
